This
was an early arrival and it was cloudy. We tied up about 0745,
starboard side to the pier and town.
We got off the ship at 0800 and found
our tour of the day would take 4 busses and some 200 people. This
seemed at first to be doomed as the port gates were broken and we
could not get out nor could the trucks with cargo leaving the freight
pier. Finally some port police managed to strong arm a gate open and
we were able to hit the road after all. A short drive from the port
we were on the A29 freeway and up the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
2
½ hours (and one restroom stop) later we arrived in Granada and were
deposited in a marshalling yard at the foot of the UNESCO Heritage
Site la Alhambra and Generalife. This place, or Palace, began in
1248 and is known as the home of kings.
